This aquatic plant field school provides an outdoors, hands-on learning experience designed to improve your understanding of the plants that grow in and along Alberta's lakes and rivers. Focusing on the identification and taxonomy of aquatic and shoreline plants, this field school covers the major aquatic plant species found in Alberta's lakes and rivers. Vascular plant species are emphasized; algae and cyanobacteria are not covered. Participants will also learn the basics of the roles aquatic plants play in supporting aquatic wildlife and mitigating erosion.

The morning and afternoon sessions will take place at different locations to expose participants to a wider variety of plant species.

• Rubber boots are required.

• Participants are responsible for their own transportation, food, water, etc.

• Details will be emailed to registrants closer to the field school date.

• Unforeseen circumstances such as severe weather may require us to reschedule.

• Participants must sign the liability waiver and safety form upon arrival.

Registration: $150/attendee + GST. Please pay by etransfer before the field school (send to kallummcdonald@gmail.com), or bring a cheque or money order on the day of (made out to Kallum McDonald).
