Weeds of Alberta
Course Description: this course explores the identification, taxonomy, biology, and basics of control of non-native plant species in Alberta, with an emphasis on the 95 noxious and prohibited noxious weeds listed under the Weed Control Act, as well as the Act's powers and functions. Aquatic invasive plant species regulated by the Fisheries (Alberta) Act are also addressed. Including unregulated species, up to 180 weedy species are covered. Differentiation from look-alike species is also addressed. We hope to offer pesticide applicator credits for all weeds-specific courses, workshops, etc. in the category of Pest Management (application pending review).
Upon request, a "Weeds 101" introductory course or custom workshop can be arranged.
Target audience: farmers, acreage owners, gardeners, environmental stewardship groups, students, academics, vegetation managers, nature enthusiasts, consultants, etc.
